Dress of gray grosgrain in four parts; (a) afternoon bodice with square low cut neck buttoned down center front, long waisted and fitted with short peplum, trimmed at neck and sleeve edges with white tulle ruching; (b) skirt with bustle and train, loose drapery across front, gathered into side seams, train trimmed with two bands of self pleats, skirt front trimmed at bottom with single band of self pleats and self bows and drapery; (c) evening bodice with wide flaring neckline, tiny shirred cap sleeves, buttoned down center front, short peplum center back, folds of self material trim neckline, white tulle and organdy ruching and pleating edge neck and sleeves; (d) a vestee with short standing collar, buttoned down center waistband: Maison Cornille Dumoret DESHAIS and PHILLIPPE SUCCRS 5 RUE de la PAIX; (e) scrap of dress fabric. Made in Paris for Mrs. Ephriam Whitman Guerney (Ellen Strugis Hooper), 1838-1887.
