Woman’s hat. Pale green silk gauze brocaded in wide and narrow straw bands and silk leaf motifs, on buckram foundation. Hatband with bow, two ties, trim under brim of pale green silk ribbon brocded in satin stripes and yellow-and-green flowers; additional bow of green silk ribbon brocaded in straw stripes and green iris motifs. Pale green organza lining. Medium-height flat top crown; short-back brim flaring up to wide front. Condition: ties deteriorated, some straw broken. Worn by Elizabeth or Harriet Burnside of Worcester, Mass.
