Large, bubble-shaped hat with allover abstracted floral pattern formed by concentric bands of white and black synthetic braid, with inserts of black velvet at front, black synthetic net foundation. Labeled: “Flirtette Creation, New York.”

“Space Age” hats like this one incorporated modern materials such as plastics and PVC vinyl, applied in bold geometric forms influenced by Pop and Op Art. This hat features a graphic black and white pattern that embraces the youthfulness and futuristic aesthetic championed by a new wave of young designers in the 1960s.
