Woman’s sleeveless tunic of crimson silk with open-work (twisted warp) pattern of overall repeating Chinese gong and clouds motifs and surface design of flowers, butterflies and birds embroidered in satin-stitch in cream, yellow, green and blue silk; neck binding and ties of dark blue plain-weave silk. Probably embroidered by Chinese artists living in the port city of Surat in the state of Gujarat.
