The Director of Admissions serves as a member of the SMFA’s enrollment management team to assure that admissions priorities and strategies support a student body of sufficient quality and diversity consistent with the mission of the School. Oversee the admissions recruitment and operations functions. Responsible for daily supervision of admissions staff and recruiting and production activity. Daily monitoring and supervision of inquiries, applications, and enrollment goals and application processing. Lead the planning and execution of multiple campus-based and off-campus recruiting events each year. Work with the college’s marketing office on the development of marketing materials and social media strategy. Develop and implement strategic enrollment plan, to include methods, policies and programs intended to meet specific institutional enrollment and revenue objectives. Responsible for the application of market research and analysis of demographic and economic trends to the work of the Admissions Office. Meet enrollment targets. As a member of the SMFA’s Enrollment Management Team, work to assure that admissions strategies are consistent and that the student body is of sufficient quality, diversity and size to support the mission of the School. Direct the process of recruiting, admitting, and enrolling of new students. Work in cooperation with the Vice President and Dean of Enrollment, Financial Aid Director and Finance staff, to develop financial aid strategies to achieve goals of quality, diversity, and size of entering class. Develop and manage the Admissions Office budget. Hire, coach, mentor, train and evaluate staff, addressing staff-related issues as needed. Coordinate and maintain ongoing communication with all appropriate departments at the Universities who are current partners regarding enrollment of students. Work with the Director of Communication and Marketing to maintain a strategic marketing plan. Oversee all recruiting activities, including travel, portfolio days and special initiatives; participate in these activities. Coordinate written enrollment reports by group and individual as necessary.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Exemplary communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated history of success in leading and managing staff. Customer service focused. Knowledge of contemporary art and ability to conduct student portfolio reviews strongly preferred.
