This position manages the Media Stockroom that serves the audio-visual and computer-related needs of faculty, students and staff in all areas and departments. In addition to this important service component, the position is responsible for the management of Media Stockroom staff and the administration and maintenance of its inventory; The Media Stockroom serves approximately 900 students, faculty and staff on a schedule of approximately 90 hours per week; The Media Stockroom houses an inventory of several thousand individual items with a combined replacement cost of about $750,000.
Essential Functions:
Provide audio-visual and computer-related services to support teaching, learning and art making by students, faculty and staff; Maintain good working relations and a professional rapport with all faculty, students and staff in the School; Hire, train and supervise as many as 20 student employees who work part-time in the Media Stockroom. Supervise the Media Services Assistant; Work closely with studio managers and technicians in all areas to support the needs of faculty and students, with some emphasis on working rapport with time-based disciplines; This may include monitoring facilities and troubleshooting equipment for students when faculty members are not present; Maintain and update equipment database inventory—some 65% of the Media Stockroom inventory belongs to specific areas; Keep the inventory in workable condition; Maintain a basic maintenance system and repair schedule, including: perform minor equipment repairs, trouble shoot problems with equipment, monitor status of equipment for preventive service, diagnose problems, send equipment out for repairs as needed, and check incoming repaired equipment for proper functioning; Plan, implement and coordinate policies and procedures for equipment use and loans; Keep abreast of analogue and digital technologies related to the Stockroom’s inventory; Monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the Media Stockroom and related areas, including regular posting of MSDS and other health and safety information; Oversee the Media Stockroom’s Operating Budget; Perform other related duties as required or directed.
Physical requirements include lifting of equipment up to 70lbs and dexterity sufficient for working with delicate equipment.
