The MFA Imaging Studios, (in the Intellectual Property department), produce a wide variety of video for many different purposes within the museum. Most productions are multi-camera with sound, passing through several rounds of revision, ranging in length from 8 seconds to 45 minutes.

The Videography intern will engage in every part of creating videos for a major encyclopedic art museum, from concept meetings to delivery of the final work. Along with gaining technical skills, s/he will learn the equally important give-and-take of teamwork and cooperation within a large organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit video, both under direction and independently, in FCP7 and Adobe Premier
  • Shoot documentary-style video as second camera with DSLR
  • Work as occasional sound person on documentary crew

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university 
  • Familiarity with Mac OS, Apple FCP7 and Adobe Premier
  • Demonstrated experience using DSLR cameras for video photography
  • Some experience with and sensitivity to lighting
  • Proven ability to mesh well with a small working group
  • Ability to work independently when necessary
  • Some flexibility in scheduling when helpful 
  • Ability to attend orientation from 9:30 a.m. to 12: 15 p.m. on Saturday, September 16
  • Ability to commit to 8-12 hours per week through mid-December
