Yousuf Karsh’s introspective portraits of political leaders, artists, authors, scientific figures, and movie stars are celebrated the world over. His ability to capture the soul and essence of each of his sitters makes the resulting photographs unforgettable. Karsh is renowned for photographing his subjects in their own environment, transforming luxurious locations such as the Royal Family’s Buckingham Palace into impromptu studios.  ”My life’s work has permitted me to meet fascinating people in interesting corners of the world,” said Karsh. “Each photograph, like each of my sitters, holds a special memory for me, and immortalizes for the world special people in time and history.”

This exhibition of sixty Karsh photographs features many of the people that have resolutely made their mark on our cultural history, including Winston Churchill, John F. Kennedy, Georgia O’Keeffe, Ernest Hemingway, Albert Einstein, and Joan Crawford.
