Yu Hong

Yu Hong responded to Court Ladies Preparing Newly Woven Silk (early 12th century), a treasure of the Museum’s collection attributed to the artist-emperor Huizong (1082–1135). Known for her depictions of women, the artist re-envisioned the Tang dynasty (618–907) court ladies as 21st-century women in Spring Romance. Watch as Yu reveals the challenges she faced with her original concept and the changes she made to capture an authentic mindset of the women she painted.
