Do you want to broaden your knowledge of art and connect with other young people in the city? Then the Museum Council is for you! We invite you to forget the tensions of the day and come have fun at the MFA through rich learning experiences with other terrific people. The Museum Council is Boston's premier young group for arts supporters between the ages of 21-45 and provides essential unrestricted support for the Museum's annual operations. As a benefit, Museum Council members receive numerous unique and exclusive invitations throughout the year to learn more about the Museum and its collections.

Museum Council members enjoy special benefits including:

  • Museum Council membership and event invitations for two individuals - share with a friend, partner, or spouse!
    (Associate level for one individual between the ages of 21-26)
  • Twelve months of MFA membership and associated benefits including complementary Museum admission for you and guests and discounts on everything from lectures and courses to dining, shopping, and parking.
  • Invitations to VIP special exhibition receptions, behind-the-scenes tours, and talks
  • VIP passes to special exhibitions
  • Discounted tickets to The Summer Party, the Museum Council's annual black-tie gala

Museum Council Membership Levels

Associate

Contributing $300 annually

Individual membership is ideal for recent graduates
Join and receive Museum Council member benefits for one person between the age of 21 and 26, including Museum admission for two adults and children 17 and under, and invitation for one person to all Museum Council Member events.

Join as an Associate

Member

Contributing $600 to $1,199 annually

Expand your arts experience
Museum Council events feature curatorial talks highlighting the MFA's collection and special exhibitions, often followed by private wine receptions. Members also receive special invitations for additional opportunities throughout the year such as gallery talks, behind-the-scenes programs focused on new galleries and renovations, artist open studios, and gallery visits.

Fellow

Contributing $1,200 to $2,999 annually

Connect with your peers in a more intimate setting
In addition to all the benefits that come at the Museum Council Member level, Fellows are invited to truly unique gatherings led by MFA curators and other special guests and focused on art appreciation, collecting, and connoisseurship.

Annual events might include a trip to New York City to attend an international art fair - in addition to a visit to a private art collection, and curator-led tour of a cultural institution, special luncheons, dinners, and receptions; a visit to private art collection in a Boston-area home; and the Connoisseurship Seminar and Dinner, which includes a very special evening of focused curatorial talks followed by a seated dinner at the MFA.

Patron

Contributing $3,000 or more annually

Enhance your access to the MFA's collection
At the highest level of support for the Museum Council, Patron are invited for incredibly exclusive invitations to behind-the-scenes engagements with MFA curators and expert staff.

Opportunities may include viewing objects not on view to the general public, visits to the Prints and Drawings Study Room or art conservation labs. In addition to all the benefits that come at the Museum Council Member and Fellow levels, Patrons are also invited to select Patron Program Member events.

Matching Gifts Through Your Employer

Is your company a matching gift employer?
Many companies will double your gift to the MFA. Please check with your human resources department to obtain a Matching Gift Form, and send it in with your Museum Council reply card and payment.

The MFA has created a special category for Museum Council members who wish to support the Museum by recommending a grant from a charitable foundation or donor-advised fund. Specific rules apply.
