Meet Museum Council members Rachel, Caroline, and Dave.
Member Highlight: Rachel Kase
In addition to being one of our newest Council Members having joined this past June, Rachel is also one of the MFA’s newest graduate research interns. Rachel’s love for the arts started as a child when her parents took her on visits to the MFA, where she was introduced to artists such as Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent. Since then art has been a mainstay in her life—after graduating from the University of Virginia, she worked for several years at Sotheby’s as well as The Smithsonian American Art Museum before returning to Boston. She now attends graduate school at Boston University and works at the MFA as a graduate intern in Art of Europe.
Under the guidance of Frederick Ilchman, chair, Art of Europe, and Mrs. Russell W. Baker Curator of Paintings, Rachel is working on an exhibition about Giacomo Casanova scheduled to open in Boston in the spring of 2017. In the meantime, she is excited for the opening of “Class Distinctions: Dutch Painting in the Age of Rembrandt and Vermeer,” an exhibition which will also be a focus of her Rembrandt course at BU this semester. Please make sure you say “hello” to Rachel if you may see her on your next visit to the Museum or at an upcoming Museum Council event.
Member Highlight: Caroline Ogilvy and Dave Reisler-Bruce
Caroline Ogilvy and Dave Reisler-Bruce became members of the Museum Council in September 2015, after attending many fabulous MFA events with dear friend and Steering Committee member Erika Gorman. When Caroline’s cousin, Abigail Ogilvy, joined the Council, it seemed like an easy decision to participate in the organization. After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, Caroline moved to Boston to attend Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. She currently works at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Primary Care. Caroline’s love for visual arts, design, and color started with her respect for her grandmother’s watercolors and paintings, which hang in her home.
Dave was raised in Newton, MA, and graduated from George Mason University with a BA in psychology and business. Dave moved back to his home state, where he met his wife Caroline. He currently works at Pioneer Investments. His interest in art started at a young age; when he first saw Jackson Pollock’s work, he proclaimed “Mess! Mess!”
Caroline and Dave were married July 2015, and as newlyweds, they have enjoyed traveling, trying new restaurants, and rooting for the Red Sox.
