The Art of Europe department seeks volunteer interns who will assist with administrative duties in support of the ongoing work of the department. Working under the director of administration and with the department coordinator, department interns will have an opportunity to learn first-hand both about museum work and a major collection of European art. Interns will be included in behind-the-scenes visits and learning opportunities. Successful candidates will be mature, detail-oriented, adept with technology and administrative tasks, and will have a demonstrated interest in museum work.
Responsibilities vary but will include:
• Photocopying, filing, and data entry
• Organizational work with curatorial and other records, in electronic and hard-copy formats
• Correspondence with assorted Museum constituents
• Assisting with daily tasks as needed
Requirements:
• Completion of sophomore, junior, or senior year of a B.A. program in art history
• Experience working in an office setting
• Basic knowledge of the history of European art
• Ability to commit to a regular weekday schedule (totaling at least 200 hours) as follows:
o either full-time (four to five days per week) for three to four months,
o or part-time (two to three days per week) for three to four months
• Ability to attend orientation on either Tues, May 28 (9am-12pm) or Tues, June 11 (9am-12pm)
