The Public Relations department at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston publicizes current and upcoming exhibitions, educational programs, and special events through outreach to local, national and international media. The department often hosts press previews and luncheons for local and national media and enlists the help of interns to make these events a success.

Interns in Public Relations learn about nonprofit media relations through performing various administrative duties which are vital to the operation of the department. The department is seeking two energetic and excited interns, each of whom can commit to 15 - 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
• Updating media database
• Researching media contacts
• Posting events and programs online
• Scanning and formatting printed press coverage
• Distributing and filing printed news coverage
• Mailings to media outlets
• Participation in media events and press conferences
• Other tasks and duties as required

Qualifications:
• Undergraduate junior or senior classification preferred
• Public Relations/Communications majors strongly preferred
• Positive and professional attitude
• Flexible/adaptable attitude - willingness to perform a variety of tasks, large and small
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and independently
• Ability to attend orientation on either Tues. May 28th (9am-12pm) or Tues. June 11th (9am-12pm)
• Ability to commit to 15 - 20 hours, (preferably two whole days), per week through August
