The Development department’s primary responsibility is to build lasting relationships with the many constituents of the Museum and to ensure that the necessary funds are raised to meet the short- and long-term objectives as established by the Board of Trustees and the administration. The department manages several annual programs that together provide important operating funds for the institution. The department also devotes significant resources to the cultivation, solicitation and recognition of individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies for operating, bricks and mortar, and endowment support.

Development Research, which gathers, interprets, and analyzes information critical to securing funding for the Museum, is seeking a part-time intern. The goal of this internship is to expose the intern to the daily operations and philosophies of the External Relations Division while assisting with data maintenance and special projects. The selected intern will work closely with the Development Research team members to review and organize departmental files, access digitized documents, and assist with data entry and management. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic team during an exciting time in the Museum’s history.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with administrative, clerical, and data entry duties
• Conduct research on special projects
• Scan and maintain donor files
• Other projects as appropriate
• Possible opportunities to assist with special events

Requirements:
• Keen attention to detail and superior organization skills
• Discretion with confidential information
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Database and research experience
• Interest in fundraising and/or non-profit development
• Professional attitude and respect for confidentiality of work
• Experience and interest in data management are preferable
• Library and Information Science students and graduates, or students and graduates of a relevant program, are strongly encouraged to apply
• Ability to commit to approximately 10-12 hours weekly (Monday – Friday business hours) through mid August
• Ability to attend orientation on either Tues. May 28th (9am-12pm) or Tues. June 11th (9am-12pm)
