The Development department’s primary responsibility is to build lasting relationships with the many constituents of the Museum and to ensure that the necessary funds are raised to meet the short- and long-term objectives as established by the Board of Trustees and the administration. The department manages several annual programs that together provide important operating funds for the institution. The department also devotes significant resources to the cultivation, solicitation and recognition of individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies for operating, bricks and mortar, and endowment support.
The Gifts of Art Program works closely with curators and other Museum staff to identify and cultivate relationships with Museum supporters who may be interested in donating selected works of art or entire collections to the MFA. The department assists in creating gift scenarios that best benefit the donor's and the Museum's needs and priorities. The department also oversees fundraising for specific Museum acquisitions and endowments for Museum purchases and implements educational programs for prospective donors and staff on the benefits of making gifts of art. The Gifts of Art Program ensures that donors and their families feel a continued connection to the Museum, its programs, and staff through various stewardship efforts.
The Gifts of Art department seeks one part-time intern with a demonstrated background in art history to assist with administrative and clerical duties as well as special projects as directed by the department assistant. The internship offers an opportunity to gain invaluable practical experience by learning first-hand about overall museum work and is an excellent opportunity to learn about the daily operations of the Museum’s fundraising team.

• Ability to commit to 10-15 hours per week for at least three months through mid April
• Ability to attend orientation on either Wed, Jan 8 (10 am or 6 pm); Wed, Jan 22 (6 pm); or Wed, Feb 5 (10 am or 6 pm)
