The Volunteer and Community Programs department is devoted to advancing the MFA’s commitment to inclusion and broadening our impact in the community. Through volunteerism, internships, relationship development and innovative teen programs, we continue to provide access for all members of the community to visit and become involved with the Museum and our collections.
We are seeking a volunteer to assist with administrative tasks directly related to the recruitment and placement of interns in the Museum. The position would include, but not be limited to: corresponding with volunteer and intern applicants; database management; responding to phone messages, and other projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Acknowledge receipt of applications
• Maintain applicant and volunteer/intern databases
• Distribute applications as appropriate
• Assist in scheduling interviews
• Assist in coordinating volunteer/intern orientations and enrichment events
• Assist in compiling data and statistics
Qualifications:
• Excellent organizational skills
• Detail oriented
• Specific competency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• General knowledge of database management (we will train on specific program)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work comfortably alone as well as part of a team
• Willingness to be flexible
• Ability to multitask
• Sense of humor!
• Ability to commit to 7-10 hours (i.e. one full day or two half days) per week (Monday-Friday hours) for at least nine months
• Interest/experience in Human Resources and/or volunteer/intern management is helpful but not necessary
