The Museum’s New Media department creates compelling interactive experiences in the galleries and online. Our work includes video productions, audio tours, in-gallery activities, way finding, online collections and exhibition web sites. New Media staff works closely with Curatorial, Education, Marketing, Visitor Services and Exhibitions & Design teams.
New Media seeks an intern to assist in daily checks and maintenance of audio/visual and interactive technology in the galleries, such as video artworks, digital signage, touch screen activities, and multimedia tours. Reporting to the New Media Specialist, the intern will gain valuable insight as to how new technologies are integrated within a fine art museum, from conception to installation.
Responsibilities:
• Daily check of audio/visual and interactive installations in MFA galleries
• Troubleshoot technical issues with installations as required
• Help to prepare audio/video content and equipment for gallery installations
• Assist in management of multimedia handheld guides
Qualifications:
• Excellent computer skills, especially with Mac OS
• Familiarity with Apple technology including iPods and iPhones
• Some familiarity and/or strong interest in AV and interactive technology
• Audio/video editing and video compression experience is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently
• Attention to detail
• Ability to commit to 10-12 hours per week through mid-August
• Ability to attend orientation on either Tues. May 28th (9am-12pm) or Tues. June 11th (9am-12pm)
