What were the factors that led to the development of the remarkable corpus of works from ancient Ife? In this talk, the author explores the rich socio-historical framework in which these art works were made in southwestern Nigeria the c.1300 era. This talk also explores an array of related questions that are taken up the author in her new book on this subject.
