Explore the essentials of painting with pastels. Learn how to achieve luminous color and volume and how to structure an engaging composition. Techniques such as scumbling, layering, blending and the basic stroke will be demonstrated. Visitors are invited to join in and create a small pastel painting of their own.
Gregory John Maichack is a portraitist and painter working primarily in pastels. He has been in many national juried shows and exhibits frequently in New England venues. Mr. Maichack provides approximately one hundred adult workshops sponsored by Cultural Councils in Massachusetts every year at such places as the Norman Rockwell Museum, as well as at sites throughout New Hampshire and Connecticut.
Mr. Maichack also is a faculty member of the Quadrangle Museum School at the Museum of Fine Arts in Springfield, Massachusetts and the Adult Program Department of Greenfield Community College. His work can be seen at www.GregoryMaichack.com.
