This explosive drama looks at the American housing crisis through the eyes of a single father named Dennis Nash (Andrew Garfield) who is evicted from his Orlando home, where he lives with his mother (Laura Dern) and his young son. The eviction is enforced by Rick Carver (Michael Shannon), a ruthless real estate tycoon who sees potential in Nash and offers him a lucrative job. Hoping to make enough money to buy back his home, Nash swallows his hatred for Carver and becomes an eviction agent himself. Dern’s character fights to free her son from Carver’s world of cynicism and greed.
