SPOTLIGHT SCREENING
Beloved (Les biens-aimés) by Christophe Honoré (2011, 136 min.). Honoré’s new musical delights with original songs sung by stars Catherine Deneuve, her real-life daughter, Chiara Mastroianni, and starlets Ludivine Sagnier and Louis Garrel. Recalling Deneuve’s famous role in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, the film starts in 1960s Paris and ends at the turn of the 21st century. Madeleine (Deneuve) and her daughter (Mastroianni) sing of passionate, yet impossible love as world events—the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, and 9/11—affect the men they love and the outcome of their lives. In English and French with English subtitles.
The Museum opens 30 minutes before the screening.
