The Boss of It All (Direktøren for det hele) (2006, 99 min.). In this biting corporate comedy, von Trier doesn’t abandon his misanthropic views, but he does infuse the film with a comedic edge, absent from a majority of his other works. A company owner pretends the real boss lives in America and communicates with staff only via e-mail. When the owner puts the company up for sale, the prospective buyer insists on meeting the boss in person. In a panic, the owner hires a failed, over-intellectualizing actor to portray this imaginary boss. In Danish, Icelandic, English and Russian.
