The Butterfly’s Dream by Yılmaz Erdoğan (2013, 138 min.). Set against the backdrop of wartime Turkey, the film is inspired by the lives of Rüştü Onur and Muzaffer Tayyip, two WWII poets whose biggest dreams were to be published in the Varlık literary magazine. When both fall in love with Suzan, they make a bet: each writer composes a poem for her and depending on whose poem Suzan likes the most, the other will step away. Turkish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Academy Awards.
