The Cat Returns by Hiroyuki Morita (2002, 75 min.). After Haru saves a cat from getting hit by a speeding truck, she is amazed as the cat gets up on its hind legs, brushes itself off, and thanks her politely. Later, in a show of gratitude for saving his son’s life—the cat prince—the King of Cats showers Haru with gifts, which includes a decree that she shall marry his son and come to live as a princess in the secret Kingdom of Cats.
