Directed by John Carpenter (USA, 1983, 110 min.). 35mm.
Based on a Stephen King novel, directed by John Carpenter, and starring a cherry-red 1958 Plymouth Fury from hell—what more can we ask of a camp horror flick? How about Harry Dean Stanton as a laid-back detective in a slick blue suit?
A lonely nerd named Arnie gets a confidence boost after he buys and lovingly restores an antique car, affectionately named “Christine.” Soon Arnie is cruising around town with the hottest girl in school—and taking revenge on the bullies who tormented him. As Arnie’s behavior spins out of control, it’s up to his jock best friend, his dim but beautiful girlfriend, and one cool detective (Stanton) to save Arnie from Christine’s demonic spell.
