Detropia by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (2012, 90 min.). With its vivid palette and haunting score, Detropia sculpts a dreamlike collage of Detroit, a once grand city teetering on the brink of dissolution. The film follows Detroit residents as they fight for their city and refuse to abandon hope. The story of the Motor City is an all too familiar one, but proves that a little patience and humor makes all the difference when facing an uncertain future. “An important, heartbreaking, and yet still occasionally hilarious documentary” (Slate Magazine).
