Directed by Billy Wilder (USA, 1944, 110 min.). 35mm.
Barbara Stanwyck is the quintessential femme fatale in this perfect film noir based on a novel by the legendary Raymond Chandler. A sensual housewife named Phyllis Dietrichson (Stanwyck) dupes a smitten insurance agent named Neff (Fred MacMurry) into doing her dirty work. But their sloppy execution attracts the suspicion of Neff’s boss, Keyes (Edward G. Robinson), who begins to investigate. It’s a race against time to get away with the perfect crime in this suspenseful masterpiece that was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
