Esther Broner: A Weave of Women by Lilly Rivlin (US, 2013, 62 min.). This documentary tells the story of the Jewish author and women’s rights advocate who co-wrote The Women’s Haggadah, a book providing a revisionist text for patriarchal Seder services—from a women’s point of view. Broner’s Haggadah, devised in 1975, has since been used at countless Passover meals as well as by women as active participants in the Jewish emancipation from Egypt. Discussion moderated by Gail Twersky Reimer, executive director of the Jewish Women’s Archive, follows screening.
