Friends of Film provide essential support for the Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Film Program at the MFA, one of the country's leading exhibitors of independent, contemporary, classic, and international film.

Friends of Film members receive:

• Invitations to exclusive sneak preview screenings of major motion pictures, typically 15 per year. Recent sneaks include Les Intouchables, Bully, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Kid with the Bike, Rampart, Crazy Horse, Melancholia, Sarah's Key, Tabloid, Bill Cunningham, New York, Page One: Inside the New York Times, and Jane Eyre.
• Special Friends of Film events
• Film Scrip good for free admission to regular MFA film programs
• Monthly Friends of Film e-mail and MFA Film News weekly e-mail

Upcoming Sneak Previews

Beasts of the Southern Wild by Benh Zeitlin (US, 2012, 90 min.). In a forgotten but defiant bayou community cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee, a six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality. Desperate to repair the structure of her world in order to save her ailing father and sinking home, this tiny hero must learn to survive unstoppable catastrophes of epic proportions. “..hauntingly beautiful both visually and in the tenderness it shows toward the characters,” Manohla Dargis, The New York Times. Winner of the U.S. Dramatic Competition at Sundance and the FIPRESCI award for Cannes' Un Certain Regard section.

No ticket necessary for Sneak Preview screenings but must provide MFA and Friends of Film membership ID. Parking validation will be provided at the Auditorium to Friends of Film members only; to ensure your $5 rate please bring your parking ticket and $5 cash to the auditorium.

• Admission for two to MFA sneak previews

Contributor $250

• All Dual member privileges, plus mailed notices for all sneak previews and option to bring two guests to all sneak previews, and invitations to sneak previews at other area theaters
• $175 is not tax deductible*

Director $500

• All Contributor member privileges, plus invitations to receptions with visiting actors and filmmakers
• $305 is not tax deductible*

Producer $1,500 and more

• All Director member privileges, plus free admission with reserved seating to all MFA film programs and a copy of a major recent film book or catalogue
• $410 is not tax deductible*
