Jîn by Reha Erdem (2013, 122 min.). Seventeen-year-old Jîn is determined to live and participate in life no matter what it takes. Fleeing Kurdish rebel fighters, Jîn abandons her squad and finds protection in the forest, forming an unspoken alliance with the woodland creatures that also seem to understand the devastating impact of war. “Reha Erdem delivers a visually stunning, vividly emotional narrative . . . a symphony of nature in major and minor keys” (Variety). Discussion with director follows screening before a reception at the SMFA. Please note that this reception is open to anyone with a ticket.
