The Legend of Cool “Disco” Dan by Roger Gastman and Joseph Pattisall (US, 2012, 90 min.). During the 1980s, the tag of Cool “Disco” Dan was plastered onto almost every block in the DC area. The Washington Post even had a nickname for him: “the urban phantom.” The filmmakers track down this infamous graffiti artist and get him to open up about his world of street art. Through the eyes of the city’s most visible graffiti artist at the time, the turbulent 1980s are re-examined in a new context. Discussion with directors follows September 26 screening.
