Manderlay (2005, 139 min.). A sparse sound stage transforms into a plantation in von Trier’s sequel to Dogville. Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) discovers slavery still exists on a 1930s plantation called Manderlay. Grace finds it her duty to liberate the slavesand stay to see them through their first harvest. Left alone with four henchmen and her father’s lawyer, Grace enters a world that is even stranger than it seems.
