Mold (Küf) by Ali Aydın (Turkey, 2012, 94 min.). Basri inspects railway for wear and tear, but his real concern is finding his missing son who ‘disappeared’ in police custody 18 years ago. He never gives up hope, writing to the state twice a month appealing to the authorities to find his son. “The sincerity and clarity of the storytelling offer many rewards . . . a significant achievement” (Variety).  Winner of the Best First Feature Film Award at the 2012 Venice Film Festival.
