The Parade (Parada) by Srdjan Dragojević (Serbia, 2011, 115 min.). A group of gay activists in Belgrade strikes a tense alliance with Limun, a crime boss, whose fiancée demands an extravagant wedding that only struggling gay theater director Mirko and his friends can provide. In exchange, macho Limun reluctantly agrees to provide security for the group’s Pride parade. When Limun’s gang balks at the assignment, he recruits a band of former Balkan war combatants in this rollickingly shrewd and humane comedic take on a vital human rights issue. In Serbo-Croatian with English subtitles. Co-presented by The Boston LGBT Film Festival.
