Post Tenebras Lux by Carlos Reygadas (Mexico, 2012, 120 min.). An affluent couple appears to have it all, but underneath the idyllic façade dark demons reside, represented with startling, hallucinogenic imagery. The title (Latin for “light after darkness”) is an apt one as the film explores a family torn between peace and violence, guilt and repentance, and innocence and depravity. In Spanish, French, and English with English subtitles. Winner of Best Director at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
