Directed by Pierre Étaix (France, 1962, 81 min.). 35mm.

At his parents’ insistence, a kindhearted Parisian scientist gives up studying the stars and sets out to find a wife. After observing other Casanovas, the suitor tries mimicking their techniques on his own prospects, but the results are not what he hoped for.

Rupture (France, 1961, 11 min.).

A jilted suitor’s efforts to answer a “Dear John” letter turns into a brilliant visual gag as a fountain pen, desk, stamps, paper, and inkwell all contrive diabolically to thwart him.
