The Young Girls of Rochefort (Les demoiselles de Rochefort) by Jacques Demy and Agnès Varda (France, 1968, 125 min.). Delphine (Catherine Deneuve) and Solange (Françoise Dorléac, Deneuve’s sister) are twin sisters living in Rochefort, where anticipation is building over an upcoming town square fair. Delphine, a ballet teacher, and Solange, who gives music lessons for a living, each long to find love and a life outside of Rochefort.
