Due to a print traffic error, we regret having to cancel today's screening of Whisper of the Heart.  Instead, we will screen Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

Laputa: Castle in the Sky by Hayao Miyazaki (1986, 124 min.).  A young girl with a mysterious crystal pendant falls out of the sky and into the arms and life of young Pazu. Together they search for a floating island in the sky—the site of a dead civilization that promises wealth and power to those who can unlock its secrets.

Whisper of the Heart by Yoshifumi Kondo (1995, 111 min.). Aspiring writer Shizuku is spending her summer vacation reading and translating foreign music into Japanese. She notices the name “Seiji” appears on the checkout card of each library book she reads. Through a series of incidents, she comes to meet and establishes a connection to Seiji, who dreams of becoming a famous Italian violinmaker. As their life goals pull them in different directions, Shizuku and Seiji are determined to remain true to their feelings for one another.
