Jane Portal, the Matsutaro Shoriki Chair, will introduce the newly renovated Arts of Korea Gallery which presents ceramics, metalwork and paintings from the Bronze Age to the 19th century, including a rare trompe l"oeuil 'bookshelf' screen on loan from a local private collection. The adjacent exhibition "Divine Depictions" shows seldom seen Buddhist paintings from the Joseon Dynasty, many of which were stored for hundreds of years in Japanese temples.
