Join Curatorial Planning and Project Manager, Emerita in the Art of Asia, Oceania and Africa, Angie Simonds, to investigate Chinese lacquer objects which were considered on a par with gold and silver: how they are made, used and perceived by emperors and the wealthy elite. Their relation with the paintings, porcelain, and furniture in the exhibition, and auspicious themes across media, help give context to the objects and life in China for over 600 years.
