Musical Instrument Gallery Talk and Demonstration

MIT Professor of Music George Ruckert will discuss the history, repertoire, and playing technique of the sarod, a type of lute used in classical music of northern India. Professor Ruckert will perform on his own sarod, as well as an important 1970s example recently acquired by the MFA, from the shop of master instrument maker Hemendra Chandra Sen.
