Musical Instrument Gallery Talk and Demonstration

Taiwan-based musician Chien-No Cheng will demonstrate and talk about the sheng, a curious looking wind instrument of China that utilizes metal “free reeds,” similar to those used in Western harmonicas and accordions. Ms. Cheng will play a modern instrument of her own, and two historical examples from the Museum’s collection will be on hand for comparison and examination.
