Emily Beeny, assistant curator, Paintings, Art of Europe

In an MFA first, the Museum has solicited the help of the public to select favorite Impressionist paintings to hang in an exhibition. Coinciding with the opening of this special exhibition, “Boston Loves Impressionism," hear the fascinating story of how the MFA came to possess one of the world's greatest, most beloved collections of Impressionist paintings. Explore the mark left on the MFA’s collection by the individual tastes and personalities of a century of Boston collectors, and discover how our understanding of paintings by Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Cézanne has changed with time. Find out how the Bostonians who first collected these pictures as contemporary works helped bring the artists who made them into the modern canon.

To order tickets by phone, call 1-800-440-6975; to order in person, visit any MFA ticket desk.
