In this panel discussion, presented as part of Council of American Jewish Museums annual conference, directors of three Boston-area museums explore new directions. While mainstream art museums are known for their masterworks, the interests of new audiences may extend well beyond the masters. How are art museums transcending their core topics, collections, and identities? What experiments are they running in presenting new topics, in new mediums, for new audiences? How do Jewish (and other identity) topics work in art museums, and how does the framework of the art museum change the experience or expectations?
