Member Family Day: The Art of Travel

You won’t need your passport for this worldwide tour. Just hop on board with one of our educators for a family-friendly 30-minute tour of art from around the globe.
Drop in to enjoy tales of travels! Stay for one story or for the whole hour. Great for toddlers.

Transport yourself to 17th-century Massachusetts! Musicians Seven Times Salt perform songs about the Pilgrims and their journey to America.
Art-Making Activities 10:30 am–2:30 pm
Travel back in time to ancient Egypt! Look at different ways Egyptians traveled the Nile, and then create a collage of your own Egyptian-inspired boat.

Journey through “John Singer Sargent Watercolors” in Gallery LG31, and explore the wonderful places that artist John Singer Sargent saw on his travels. Continue his creative adventure! Put on your Sargent mustache and head to Shapiro Family Courtyard to draw a view that inspires you.

Explore the mystical kingdom of Benin! Discover pendants in Gallery 172 that were believed to protect their wearers, and then head to the studio to create your own pendant in clay.
