Featuring the MFA’s 1736 Hemsch French double manual harpsichord. Peter Sykes performs selections from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I, by J. S. Bach and Fabio Bonizzoni presents “The Art of Variations” featuring Frescobaldi, L. Couperin, Geminiani, Forqueray, and Scarlatti.
 

Peter Sykes, harpsichord, has appeared in recital for the American Guild of Organists, the Organ Historical Society, American Institute of Organbuilders, at the Library of Congress, Boston Early Music Festival, Aston Magna Festival, New England Bach Festival, and with Ensemble Project Ars Nova, The King’s Noyse, Musica Antiqua Köln, Blue Heron, and throughout the United States, including an appearance in Boston’s Jordan Hall as a featured soloist in the Bank of Boston Emerging Artists Celebrity Series. He holds degrees from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with Gabriel Chodos, Blanche Winogron, Mireille Lagacé, Robert Schuneman, and Yuko Hayashi, and Concordia University in Montreal, where he studied with Bernard Lagacé.

Fabio Bonizzoni, harpsichord, is one of the leading Italian harpsichordists and organists of his generation. After playing for many years with some of the most important orchestras specializing in early music, including Amsterdam Baroque, Le Concert des Nations, and Europa Galante, in 2004 he began exclusively devoting himself to his activities as a soloist and as a director, the latter primarily of his own orchestra, La Risonanza. Mr. Bonizzoni is a harpsichord professor at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in Holland, and in Italy at the Conservatory of Novara.
