Featuring the MFA’s 1796 Schiedmayer and the ca. 1600 Italian clavichords. Peter Sykes performs music associated with keyboard pedagogy: Girolamo Diruta’s Il Transilvano (1597) and selections from J. S. Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier; Daniel Gottlob Türk’s Klavierschule (1789). Ulrika Davidsson performsmusic to educate the musical youth: Selections from C. P. E. Bach’s 18 Probestücke.

Peter Sykes, clavichord, director of the Keyboard Mini-Festival, is Associate Professor of Music and Chair of the Historical Performance Department at Boston University, where he teaches organ, harpsichord, performance practice, and continuo realization. He is also Music Director of First Church in Cambridge and Director of the Baroque Academy of the Amherst Early Music Festival. He performs extensively on the harpsichord, clavichord, and organ. He is a founding board member and current president of the Boston Clavichord Society.

Ulrika Davidsson, clavichord, teaches clavichord and historical keyboard instruments at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen in Germany, the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, and the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance and historical keyboards and a Master’s degree in harpsichord performance from the Eastman School of Music. A native of Sweden, she holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Gothenburg. From 2007 to 2012, Dr. Davidsson was Assistant Professor of Historical Keyboards at the Eastman School of Music.
