Enjoy a visit to LaMontagne Gallery’s South Boston space to see their latest exhibition featuring the work of artist Joe Wardwell.

Wardwell creates paintings that integrate landscape, text, musical allusions, and abstraction to investigate myths about “nature” and national identity in the United States. Having grown up in predominantely rural areas of the west, his commitment to landscape is both personal and political. In his most recent work, featured at LaMontagne Gallery, painted text (fragments  of lyrics from rock songs) are layered on top of landscapes in a juxtaposition of imagry and text that undermines the images of landscape and their previous heroic cultural connotations and suggest an alternative narrative.

Evening will include light snacks, wine, and beer.
