The Harvard University-Boston Museum of Fine Arts Egyptian Expedition led by George Andrew Reisner was a pioneer in the use of photography to document archaeological fieldwork. Join Lawrence Berman, Norma Jean Calderwood Senior Curator of Ancient Egyptian, Nubian, and Near Eastern Art, in exploring this valuable resource of archaeological documentation that has recently been digitized for greater accessibility and preserved for the future. In addition to visually recording the excavations, get a glimpse into what it was like to work on a dig in Egypt and Sudan in the first half of the 19th century through images of staff members and local villagers. Reception to precede the lecture.
