Please join the Textile and Costume Society and the Karolik Society as we welcome world-renowned quilt collector, Gerald Roy. Over the past five decades, Roy and his partner Paul Pilgrim assembled one of the largest private collections of quilts in the world. Both trained in the fine arts, Pilgrim and Roy were driven by a deep interest in color and pattern and collected visually stunning quilts that rival the work of mid-century abstract artists. Selections from the Pilgrim-Roy collection will be on display in the Gund Gallery from April 6 – July 27, 2014. Be among the first to see it, before the show opens to the public! Event participants will be given a tour by Gerald Roy and invited to a private reception to meet the visionary man whose collecting strategy has shaped this MFA exhibition.
